The Year of The Blonde - 2015

Kim Kardashian’s decision to go peroxide blonde seems to have set a new trend in hairdressing with much speculation that 2015 will be the so-called ‘Year of the Blonde’. Unless you have the disposable income of a Kardashian, the average brunette should give serious consideration to the implications of such a dramatic change.

Just think of the hours you would have to spend at the hair salon having your hair bleached, possibly more than once, to achieve the desired effect. Newly-lightened hair will be high maintenance as the bleaching can weaken the condition of the hair, so consideration needs to be given to using expensive salon quality products to maintain the health of your crowning glory. Add to that, regular visits to the salon will be necessary to retouch the roots - unless you are a fan of dark highways down your centre part. And if - when - you decide to revert back to brunette the process will be both time-consuming and costly at a professional salon - that is unless you take a walk on the wild side and risk a DIY job and the possibility of your hair going green – not a trend I foresee taking off anytime soon - except on Saint Paddy’s Day.)

Year of The Blonde - Alternatives

So, my alternative suggestion would be to visit a professional hair and wig shop such as Miss20 where you will have the opportunity to look at different shades of blonde from ash to golden to see which colour best suits your complexion and eye colour. Always better to do your research before you commit yourself to something more permanent. The other benefit of modern wigs, apart from the fact that they are very hard to detect, is that they are more reasonably priced than you might think - almost certainly more competitive than a hair dye job. Of course the best thing about a wig is that you can choose when and for how long you change your hair colour!
