Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Today, March 17th, is the feast day of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland. With more than 70 million people around the world claiming ancestral links with Ireland it is traditionally the day on which like-minded individuals can celebrate their cultural heritage with parades, parties and pub crawls. Although the Americans are credited with turning St. Patrick’s Day into a world party, other nations have embraced the idea enthusiastically. More than 13 million pints of Guinness are expected to be consumed around the world today – one heck of a lot of stout by anyone’s standards.

St Patrick's Day isn't just about Shamrocks
St Patrick's Day isn't just about Shamrocks!
Putting the traditional shamrocks and the Guinness to one side – a more recent trend has been for iconic sights around the world to glow green in tribute to Ireland’s cultural heritage. The UK is getting into the spirit of things with the London Eye and Nelson’s Column glowing green, while Rome’s Colosseum and Paris’s Sacre-Coeur Basilica are also following the trend.

So how about joining in with the fun and changing your hair colour for the day? I’m not suggesting you go to extremes but there are a large range of affordable products on the market that you can use to add temporary colour to your hair. These include chalks, gels and coloured hairsprays and are a cheap and cheerful way of getting in touch with your inner-Irishness.

Or how about going to a shop like Miss20 and checking out the coloured hair extensions. A temporary green hair extension would look well on many different shades of hair from blonde, brunette to black.

However you choose to join in with the fun - Sláinte!
